Gonksi report validates Beyond Boundaries Institute's vision
Djoowak: The Beyond Boundaries Institute welcomes the findings and recommendations of David Gonski’s ‘Through Growth to Achievement’ report, released today and already endorsed by the Turnbull Government.
Whilst the report highlights key concerns and solutions that BBI @ All Saints’ has been working through, its endorsement of the priority of ‘Equipping every student to grow and succeed in a changing world’ clearly validates the work of the BBI.
Key findings:
Gonski’s review calls for a curriculum that is ‘personalisable’- a term that our Academic- in-residence and BBI patron, Professor Yong Zhao uses to describe a focus on learning gain and learning progression.
Whilst general capabilities have taken a back seat to curriculum content, the review calls for more prominence to be given to these important skills
Endorsing ASC’s focus on service learning and industry links, the review calls for a strengthening of community engagement to enrich learning
Significantly, the report calls for an overview of senior secondary schooling to equip student with the skills for the future
