Are you a middle or aspirant middle leader looking to grow your leadership practice?
We are seeking expressions of interest for Lessons for Leading Your First Initiative, a targeted opportunity for emerging leaders to learn from the experiences of those who have walked the path before. Hosted by Director of the Beyond Boundaries Institute, Cameron Thorn, this event features a panel of experienced leaders sharing insights, followed by a networking workshop designed to help you connect, reflect and find support for the challenges you are facing now or might in the future.

Cameron Thorn
Cameron is an experienced educator and has held middle leadership roles in K-12 and tertiary learning environments. Currently the Director of the Beyond Boundaries Institute and Director of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy of Western Australia, Cameron is passionate about supporting the professional development of educators and aspirant leaders.

Shannon Armitage
Shannon is a dynamic educational leader with extensive experience in curriculum innovation and pedagogical leadership. Shannon holds two Master’s degrees—in Gifted Education and Educational Leadership—and is certified as an AITSL Assessor, Growth Coach, and holder of the European Pedagogical ICT Licence. Actively supporting Women in Technology WA, she is recognised for her strengths in creativity, innovation, and leading change, and continues to grow professionally through courses like Harvard’s “Datawise” and Yale’s “The Science of Wellbeing.”

Shane Glasson
Dr Shane Glasson, founder of The Liminal Space, has spent over 30 years helping leaders unlock their potential and lead with heart. Warm, practical, and inspiring, Shane is known for creating safe spaces where people grow. He’s a trusted coach, mentor, and speaker who makes leadership feel deeply human.

Laura Motherway
With 20 years’ experience managing and delivering children’s programs in paediatric hospitals and in the arts sector, Laura is currently the Strategic Creative Learning Manager at FORM Building a State of Creativity. She brings a wealth of expertise in program management, leadership and children’s health and wellbeing. Laura is a picture book author and has worked as a singer, actor, director and improviser.

Susan Fahey
Susan Fahey is an experienced educator and leader passionate about Gifted and Talented education. As GAT Program Coordinator at Fremantle College, she champions high-quality, inclusive learning through strategic curriculum leadership, staff development, and university partnerships. Susan brings valuable insights on nurturing excellence, fostering innovation and leading with purpose.
