ReimaginED 2025: Reimagining the Future of Learning
The Beyond Boundaries Institute was proud to co-host ReimaginED 2025 in Fremantle, bringing together over 280 educators, leaders, and researchers from across Australia and internationally.
ReimaginED Conference 2025
Earlier this year, the Beyond Boundaries Institute was proud to co-host ReimaginED 2025 with Woodleigh Institute in the vibrant heart of Fremantle. With over 280 attendees from across Australia and beyond, the multi-day conference brought together educators, leaders, researchers and changemakers working across all sectors of K–12 education.
Set against the unique backdrop of the City of Fremantle, the conference offered a rich tapestry of plenary sessions, breakout workshops and collaborative dialogues. It was a chance to reconnect, reflect and reimagine the future of learning together.
Beyonding Education
The conference centred on the Institute’s evolving framework of Beyonding Education—exploring learning beyond content, beyond disciplines, beyond academic engagement and beyond the local. The program featured a diverse range of sessions focused on:
- The purpose of schooling in a rapidly changing world
- Navigating complexity and building community
- Competence development and assessment
- Industry-enhanced learning design
- Innovation and entrepreneurial pedagogies
- Ethics and applications of artificial intelligence
- Integration of emerging learning technologies
Across sessions, we asked: What does it mean to design learning that is not only future-focused but deeply human?
Ideas That Inspire Action
From thought-provoking keynotes to hands-on workshops, panel discussions to quiet moments of reflection, ReimaginED 2025 challenged us to think deeply, share generously and act boldly.
We explored how AI and algorithmic literacy are reshaping learning environments, and how circular economy thinking can drive systems-level change. We looked at entrepreneurial education, innovation challenges and global citizenship as pathways to build student agency and purpose.
Sessions on human-centred design, community-connected learning and culturally responsive approaches reminded us that real transformation starts by listening.
Looking Ahead
We extend our sincere thanks to our keynote speakers—Dr Richard Owens FRSA, Dr Peter Senge, Professor Josh Byrne, Jan Owen AM Hon DLitt, Professor Sandra Milligan, and Keren Caple—as well as our breakout session presenters, partners, co-host Woodleigh Institute, and the City of Fremantle, including Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge GAICD.
As we look ahead, the Beyond Boundaries Institute will continue to explore the principles of Beyonding Education as part of our strategic direction for 2025 and beyond. We remain committed to fostering transformative ideas and practices that enhance outcomes for students, educators and communities.
What is the ReimaginED Conference?
Hosted in parternship with Woodleigh Institute, the conference provides the opportunity to learn through interaction with local people and places in a conference that views the entire city environment as a learning space. ReimaginED transcends the traditional conference confines of function rooms and lecture halls to fully embrace the city's diverse resources, cultures and experiences as integral parts of the learning process, while connecting participants to a global ecosystem for innovation in education with provocations from national and international thought leaders.
